Only the Strong Flourish

Around here, I’ve always heard the saying “only the strong survive.” We say it in reference to everything: Animals. Plants. People. In a hot, windy, and dry climate, it is especially true for flowers.  We are building this farm - from the ground up. There isn’t much of a wind break up yet, with none in some places. All that is there is wide open farm land. These plants are going to have to be tough, and we’ve known that since the beginning. Honestly though, we just figured that a greenhouse (or 2 or 3 or 4) was an absolute necessity to get anything the grow well enough that the flowers could be sold. God works in some crazy awesome...

Our Sweet Chloe

Chloe has a mind of her own, and this business venture is just a stepping stone to what she truly wants to do. She is an animal LOVER, and knows that she will be a vet one day. When that day comes, she plans on opening her own clinic called “Chloe’s Canines.” She is a light in our lives and does a good job at keeping my parents young. I’m excited to see how she changes the world. It won’t be long.

Grama’s Role

At the ripe young age of seven, I created a business called SkyGardens with one customer and one financier - my Grama. She bought me an 8x10 greenhouse, and I sold her tomatoes as well as tomato plants. Then she’d offer me a tomato (to eat), and when they were ripe on the plants she bought, they would be waiting for me the next time I visited. When I think back to where this journey and crazy idea truly began, I can’t help but believe that the seeds were planted by this beautiful woman. Though she is no longer here, her fingerprints are all over this journey. She bought the “adorable” tractor we use, was a perfect example of perseverance,...
